Does a lot help a lot?
A man had himself vaccinated against the coronavirus en masse.
Scientists are studying the effects and recommend against imitation.
Erlangen – How do over 200 corona vaccinations affect the body’s immune system?
A man who said he was vaccinated against Covid-19 217 times for personal reasons attracted attention.
134 vaccinations have been officially confirmed.
Scientists from Erlangen (Bavaria) also took notice.
They learned about the unusual case from newspaper reports and eventually conducted a study.
The group published the results on Tuesday (March 5) in the journal “The Lancet Infectious Diseases”.
Recently, researchers also discovered a surprising lockdown effect in “Covid babies”.
217 corona vaccinations – study reveals results for the immune system
Scientists from the University and the University Hospital of Erlangen analyzed the man's blood samples from different years.
They discovered that his immune system not only functioned normally, but also had higher numbers of certain immune cells and antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 than in people who had only received three vaccinations, according to the research team.
The man was vaccinated with eight different vaccines, including different mRNA vaccines, explained Kilian Schober from the Chair of Microbiology and Infection Immunology.
When asked, Schober was unable to say what reasons prompted the man to undergo numerous vaccinations.
Current vaccination recommendation against the coronavirus
The recommendation of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) is that healthy adults up to the age of 59 should achieve basic immunity through three vaccinations or infections.
For people aged 60 and over and those who belong to risk groups, an additional annual refresher is suggested.
Study on mass corona vaccinations not representative
The researchers invited the man to Erlangen to check whether his immune cells could fight the coronaviruses less effectively due to habituation effects.
However, no evidence of this was discovered.
During the course of the study, the man received his 217th vaccination, which, according to the study authors, led to a significant increase in antibodies.
Additional tests revealed that the man's immune system continued to be active against other pathogens.
A man from Bavaria had himself vaccinated against Corona a whopping 217 times.
Scientists from Erlangen now examined his blood.

The scientists emphasized that this was only an isolated case.
Therefore, the results do not allow any general conclusions to be drawn or make it possible to derive recommendations for the general population.
