The fire station in Fischbachau is about to be rebuilt.

Demolition is scheduled to begin this fall and the project is expected to be completed in 2026.

Fischbachau

- The community had been thinking about renovation for a long time, but it has been clear since mid-2022: the fire station in Fischbachau should make way for a new building.

Now Florian Erhardt, who won an EU tender as an architect, has presented plans for the first time in a public council meeting.

They show a functional building that was largely liked by the committee with a combination of solid and wooden construction.

If everything goes well with the approval, demolition could begin in the fall.

Construction is scheduled to begin by spring next year at the latest.

The new building is scheduled to be completed a year later, in spring 2026.

“That’s the rough schedule,” summarized Erhardt.

The cost estimate remains at around 2.56 million euros – without the demolition.

For this sum, the community will receive three vehicle halls with sanitary facilities, a commander's room, locker areas, a workshop, a cleaning room and a hose washing system on the ground floor that is accessible from the outside.

The latter can be used by all fire departments in the community, emphasized Erhardt.

Three emergency rooms are to be set up on the upper floor for disaster cases, which the community must reserve for fires, floods, external emergency services or homelessness.

The spartan, temporary rooms can be reached via an external staircase and are separated from the equipment shed.

Also on the upper floor are a respiratory protection room, a kitchen, a training room and a warehouse, which is connected to the vehicle halls by a freight elevator.

Second floor in part of a building

In the part of the building where no vehicles are parked, a second floor slips under the roof due to the lower ceiling height.

There is also space for storage here, which is accessible via the freight elevator.

Because the building is slightly twisted, two birch trees and two locust trees have to be felled, explained the architect.

This is the only way for all vehicles to get in and out of parking spaces without creating an intersection situation in the area in the event of an emergency.

“I learned that a fire station is always too small,” Erhardt concluded his introduction.

After extensively examining the fire department's needs, he advocated an outer wall without concrete so that it would be easier to build on if necessary.

Michael Gartmaier (CSU) also suggested something similar for the emergency rooms on the first floor.

Should the community at some point find more suitable accommodation for this, lightweight construction would be helpful in order to remain flexible.

You could also think about enclosing the staircase to give the building a visually traditional look.

Martin Bacher (FWG) countered this by saying that it was more important than a farm look to implement the project in a timely manner.

Erhardt would like to comply with this: In the next step, the architect wants to complete the input plan, which will go to the district office after the approval of the local council.

The first trades can be planned at the same time.

Renovation is not an alternative

The local council decided in favor of the new building after a long-term decision-making process, in which a working group was also formed.

Mayor Stefan Deingruber recalled that a renovation would have been almost as expensive as a new building, but would have carried more risks.

The location was also questioned.

But because most of the active participants come from Fischbachau, alternatives such as Wolfsee were ruled out.

An annex building, which is also planned as part of the new building and will house public toilets and a small kitchen for parties in the spa gardens, will be discussed at a later date.

The intended space has already been taken into account, explained Deingruber.
