After a spring-like weekend, the weather in Bavaria is turning back to dreary winter.
Forecasts for the coming week vary.
Munich – 19 degrees on Sunday on the edge of the Alps, on Monday (March 4th) 15 degrees with bright sunshine, the same in the Bavarian Forest.
It couldn't be more springlike.
Well, the sun doesn't shine everywhere in Bavaria at the start of the week.
In Swabia, in northern Upper Bavaria and in Lower Franconia it is already raining or there is high fog.
This is due to moister air again, which is pushing into the Free State from the west.
After a short spring interlude, Bavaria is threatened with a new onset of winter at higher altitudes
And from Tuesday it will have the whole of Bavaria under control.
With a lot of rain throughout Bavaria - and in the extreme south: snow!
It's hard to believe after this mild sunny weekend, still around 20 days before the calendar start of spring, but winter is coming back again in parts of Bavaria.
The snowfall limit will fall to up to 700 meters on the edge of the Alps on Wednesday night, meaning it will snow all the way to the Oberland just outside Munich, warns the German Weather Service (DWD).
So things can get smooth for a while on Tuesday evening.
How long the white splendor will remain is anyone's guess at lows of 1 to 5 degrees.

And even if the maximum temperatures in the north of Bavaria reach double digits again during the day, it remains cool in the south, the snowfall line fluctuates between 800 and 1000 meters during the day and drops rapidly again at night to -1.
So it will remain wintry and dreary on the edge of the Alps in the new week.
The sun shouldn't come out again until Thursday evening and Friday.
But even if temperatures in the foothills of the Alps can rise again to double-digit values, it remains frosty at night.

Mittenwald is at 920 meters.
We will see significant amounts of new snow from Tuesday to Wednesday, but it could also snow again at the start of the week next week, although the temperature trend is trending upwards.

And as you can see very clearly from the temperature and precipitation curve here for Mittenwald, the trend goes a bit in both directions.
On the one hand, after the brief onset of winter on Tuesday and Wednesday (March 5th and 6th), the temperature curve goes up again a little every day and reaches over 10 degrees again by Saturday, even at an altitude of 920 meters.
On the other hand, there is also a risk of new precipitation in the form of snow at the end of the week.
