Initial investigations revealed that "the severed head, right arm, left leg from the knee down and the upper part of a right leg" found in Southards Pond Park on February 29 belonged to the woman.

Among those remains were the man's arms.

State police confirmed they investigated another crime-related scene at Bethpage State Park, about a 10-minute drive from Railroad Avenue, according to the news station.

The Suffolk County Police Department declined to confirm the arrest or search of the home, saying in an email that “we do not have any updates on the case at this time.”

A student walking to school found a “severed left arm” in Southards Pond Park last Thursday morning.

After the police were called, a

cadaver dog discovered a leg

and another arm in the area.

Later, a head, parts of the leg and a third arm were found in the park.

The remains appeared to have been recently dumped.

Researchers believe they belong to at least one man and one woman.

DNA tests are being conducted to identify the victims.

And authorities have not yet ruled out as an alternative hypothesis that the homicides are related to the criminal activity of local gangs.
