The director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, traveled to Russia this Tuesday, where he will meet with President Vladimir Putin to talk
about the "precarious" situation of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant
in Zaporizhzhia.
Europe's largest nuclear power plant was taken over by the Russian army in March 2022, and both Moscow and kyiv have accused each other of putting its security at risk.
"I think it is very important that we maintain this high-level dialogue with both belligerents," Grossi declared Monday.
"It is my intention (to meet)"
with the Russian president, he added.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova confirmed on Monday that Grossi would soon visit the country for "a series of high-level meetings."

The IAEA chief said he would like
to discuss "some technical points"
with the Russian president and get "an impression of what the plans are" for the plant.
Grossi last met with Putin in St. Petersburg in October 2022 to discuss the safety of the plant, amid the conflict in Ukraine.
He has visited Ukraine on several occasions to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky and other senior officials.
Talks at the highest level
are scheduled for Wednesday.
Since the beginning of the Russian offensive in Ukraine, Grossi has warned on several occasions about the risk of a serious nuclear accident.
Ukraine has a total of 15 reactors, spread across four sites.
