No one expected that the political system would remain indifferent to the conclusions of the Miron Disaster Committee, and indeed the guns thundered immediately upon their publication.
After the committee determined that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, then Minister of Internal Security Amir Ohana, Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai and then Minister of Religious Services Yaakov Avitan bear personal responsibility for the disaster, reactions from all ends of the political spectrum were not slow to come.
"One line connects the Carmel disaster, the Miron disaster and the October 7 debacle - the abdication of the Prime Minister and his ministers from their responsibility for managing the affairs of the state," said the former speaker of the Knesset and chairman of the State Audit Committee MK Miki Levy (Yesh Atid), "somehow they are always Don't know, don't hear and don't see.
The serious conclusions of the state investigation committee's report on the Miron disaster make it clear that they are responsible as well as responsible. The accumulation of disasters and omissions necessitates Netanyahu's immediate resignation from his position and going to the elections. Because when there is no realization of ministerial responsibility, the next disaster and omission is only a matter of time."
