» On September 25, 2016, when a building in the city of Paris located in Forges-les-Bains (Essonne) had just been requisitioned by the State to accommodate 91 migrants, 61% of voters answered no.
A few days earlier, this former Ddass site had even been flooded and then deliberately set on fire.
“There was a very strong mobilization as soon as the information was known,” rewinds the mayor at the time, Marie Lespert-Chabrier (without label).
Residents spontaneously came to the town hall one day when we had a meeting.
There was also a very violent public meeting where nearly 700 people attended.
Some even followed her outside, because the room can only accommodate 400 people.
I was very surprised, because Forges has always been a quiet town.
