The fundamental decision has been made, the funding looks promising, the district office has given its blessing.
In short: the renovation and conversion of the Miesbach warm outdoor pool has never been as tangible as it is now.
Miesbach - Erhard Pohl (CSU) followed the discussion in the finance committee about the 2024 budget and the renovation of the warm outdoor pool in the audience.
We asked the bathroom consultant, who has been campaigning for the renovation for over 20 years, to describe his emotional state now that the renovation is closer than ever before with the support of the district office.
Mr. Pohl, the support from the district office is there: Was this the long-awaited breakthrough?
You could say that.
The budget had to fit.
That was the crucial prerequisite.
After all these years of fiery pleas, you now sound quite sober. No trace of joy or even euphoria?
I haven't had the time to rejoice yet.
There is still a lot of tension.
And after 20 years you get sober.
But I'm glad.
It has become apparent that it is possible.
How tight was it?
As the mayor presented it at the meeting: In December 2023, things didn't necessarily look positive.
But the numbers in the budget have now developed positively in January.
At the same time, the finance committee cut and changed a few things and built the budget around the bathroom.
Treasurer Josef Schäffler and his committee colleagues did a very good job – a great story.
Everyone pulled together.
So the conversion is on the home stretch, right?

Not quite yet.
The city council must first give its final approval on March 21st.
This is the decisive day - he has the last word.
After that we can look forward to it.
Not previously.
Your SPD council colleague Florian Perkmann thanked you for your persistence. Are you happy about that?
I'm very happy about that, but it's not about the thank you.
I didn't work alone either.
There was a lot of help – from within the group and also across factions.
If the city council also agrees, what would the schedule look like?
Full throttle!
We are prepared and have everything in place.
The calculations are available, we just have to send out the tenders.
And the grant application is also ready to be sent.
If it works, we don't want to waste any time.
And if everything goes well, when could the new outdoor pool open?
Warm water should still be running into the pool in the summer of 2025.
That is the goal.
But it is a huge construction project.
We're aiming for the beginning of summer - when everything is going optimally.
