Donald Trump is almost assured of a return match with Joe Biden after his triumphant victory on “Super Tuesday” against his last Republican rival, Nikki Haley.
The former head of state won 14 of the 15 states at stake during this great electoral day, including California, North Carolina and Texas, the main providers of the delegates necessary for the nomination, but also the Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Virginia.
Only the very progressive Vermont, in the northeast of the country, escaped her, offering her only victory of the evening to Nikki Haley.
The Utah and Alaska caucuses have not yet delivered their verdict but should in all likelihood fall into Trump's hands.
The former president did not even bother to mention his rival during his speech following the results, appearing completely absorbed by the return match against Joe Biden.
Nikki Haley, who until now had not planned publicly after “Super Tuesday”, did not react directly in the evening, leaving doubt about her future.
His scores, above 30% in Colorado or Virginia, however remain a worrying factor for Trump. A sign of her obstinacy, the former American ambassador to the United Nations recently went back on her commitment made at the start of the primary to support the billionaire if he was invested by the Grand Old Party (GOP).
