It was supposed to be the best day of a Mexican bride and groom's life, but their wedding ceremony turned into a real nightmare and ended with the arrest of the bride, who instead of dancing was filmed in her wedding dress while being handcuffed and surrounded by armed police.

But this bride, who was identified in the local media only by her first name Nancy, was not arrested for no wrongdoing.

It turns out that Nancy and her fiancé Clemente, whose nickname was El Raton (the mouse) and meanwhile managed to evade arrest and escape from the authorities, are suspected of being part of the "El Borgo" (the sheep) gang that extorted poultry dealers in Toluca de Lerdo, one of Mexico's capital cities located about an hour and a half from Mexico City.

In addition, they are also suspected of having kidnapped four employees of a poultry store, according to the local authorities.

Among those arrested in connection with the kidnappings was also a man nicknamed "Opossum" who, according to the authorities, "was captured while driving a truck that was allegedly used to transport the victims."

Allegedly, their gang forced about 4,000 local wholesalers to pay an "illegal quota" of two pesos (about half a shekel) per kilo for each chicken and egg they sell, while the retailers were forced to pay five pesos (slightly more weight), to the men in the gang - who were nicknamed " El Persa" and "El Paz" ("the strawberry and "the fish"), so the prosecutors said.

The couple and their partners in the gang are allegedly connected to the crime cartel known as "La Familia Michoacana", which is apparently also responsible for a drone attack on a small village in the neighboring state of Guerrero, which killed several people in a car that blew up from the air. The attack that took place in a remote community in the southern state of Mexico killed at least six Humans and 13 others were injured, the Guerrero state prosecutor's office said.

The prosecutor's office published on social media photos of the suspects arrested during a special operation - including the one of the bride in her wedding dress.

The police said that the investigation is still ongoing.
