The suspect was arrested just hours after his ambush.
A major GIGN device deployed on Tuesday in Nantes, in the priority district of Dervallières, made it possible to arrest a 28-year-old man who is believed to be behind a failed homicide.
This took place earlier in the day, in Pornic, around thirty kilometers from the Nantes metropolitan area.
Known to the courts for petty crime, the suspect was still in police custody on Wednesday morning.
The constraint measure was extended at the end of the morning as part of the investigation opened for attempted assassination,
the public prosecutor of Saint-Nazaire, Florence Sroda, told Le
Figaro .

Unknown motive
The firearm attack for which the individual was arrested caused one victim on Tuesday morning in the Blavetière district of Pornic.

The intended target was a 23-year-old young man.
He was shot in the stomach.
Emergency transport to Nantes University Hospital, his vital prognosis would not be in jeopardy.
His condition nevertheless remains worrying.
“In view of his state of health, the victim has not yet been able to be heard,”
explained Florence Sroda, Wednesday midday.
The Saint-Nazaire public prosecutor's office has not yet ruled on the motive for the crime.
