At the end of March, the Seehauser bakery/pastry shop Lutz will close its doors.

It is not yet clear what will happen to the rooms that belong to the community.

The community would like to have a bakery again.

Seehausen

– Over 2,000 Bavarian artisan bakers ensure that the table is set with bread and baked goods every day.

People in the Free State can purchase these at around 9,600 sales points (main stores and branches).

One of them is the Seehauser Dorfbäckerei/Konditorei Lutz at Dorfstrasse 3 – until the end of March.

Then it's over.

The rooms belong to the community.

What happens next?

Is a bakery moving in again?

These are questions that many people in the village are interested in.

“There are a few serious applications,” says Mayor Markus Hörmann (CSU).

“First and foremost it was towards the bakery.” Many people looked at the rooms.

The town hall boss does not currently want to give a forecast as to when the business could open again.

However, Hörmann cannot imagine a seamless transition.

From the perspective of Roland Streim, managing director of the district craftsmen's association, the central question will be getting staff.

The times – not easy.

According to him, the number of trainees in the bakery trade has “declined sharply” in recent years.

Streim specifically knows of two people interested in the rooms in Seehausen.

“The people with whom we are in contact know how it works.” There are intensive discussions.

Of course, the whole thing has to be financeable and generate something.

“There has to be a sensible business model behind it,” emphasizes Streim.

In his opinion, Seehausen is an “exciting place.

I'm in good spirits."

The need is there.

“I also think regionality plays a role in people’s minds.”

No agreement

The Lutz bakery has stood for this, as well as for high-quality products and honest craftsmanship, for 25 years.

But there was no agreement between her and the Seehausen community.

The bakers blamed the community for this.

Hörmann rejected this in January and continues to do so today.

“It has been repeatedly reported that we are interested in re-letting.

“We were not guilty of anything,” says the mayor.

“We behaved more than correctly.” According to him, the contract should be brought up to date.

The municipality therefore terminated pro forma.

The municipality sent the new contract to the bakery in mid-December.

The town hall boss thinks that should have been enough.

He couldn't say anything more because it concerns property and contractual matters.

Hörmann says he finds it “a shame that it ended abruptly.”

The bakers couldn't be reached by phone yesterday.

Hörmann adds that it is “undisputed” that the bakery worked with high quality.

“The Lutz family was a stroke of luck for Seehausen,” emphasizes Third Mayor Daniel Schreyer (CSU).

He is very sorry that she is quitting.

However, Schreyer is optimistic “that we can get something decent out of it.

A bakery would be great.”

When word of the closure spread in the fishing village, it caused anger, confusion and upset.

The exact background remained unclear.

Schreyer can “understand any criticism when it comes to transparency, but our hands are tied there.”

Contractual matters should not be dealt with publicly.

“We can only ask for your understanding.” It’s about protecting private parties, in this case the bakers and the Lutz family.
