After 50 years, Marianne and Michael Hartl wanted to retire from the stage.
But because of career end.
They announce a new project and even a big fan meeting.
Munich – 2022 was a difficult year for fans of the hit duo Marianne (71) and Michael (74) Hartl.
For good reason, as the duo decided to end their careers.
But because of retirement - the two are returning.
However, very different than expected.
Marianne and Michael Hartl – magazine instead of music
The trigger for the withdrawal was a stroke suffered by Michael Hartl in March 2022. The fear of another stroke was correspondingly great, especially since the singer not only had to undergo emergency surgery, but was also in an artificial coma for several days.
The consequence – a farewell tour and the final end to the hit career.
After five decades of successful careers, the two of them probably don't want to say goodbye.
There won't be a new record - but there will be a magazine.
With their own magazine under the title “Marianne & Michael – Die Illustrierte” they want to be there for their fans in a new way.
The focus should be on topics such as health, nutrition, sport and joy of life well into old age.
The folk music duo also wants to incorporate personal experiences from 50 years together in their contributions.
But there is another reason to be happy, and that is for Michael Hartl himself: the publication date is a gift to and for himself - after all, he will be 75 years old on March 18th.
Michael Hartl also celebrates his recovery from his stroke on his birthday.
Marianne and Michael: an award-winning life
Marianne and Michael, who have been married since 1979, have been on stage together since the early 1970s.
Their work in pop and folk music has earned the couple countless prizes and awards, including the Hermann Löns Medal (1983), the Bambi (1990), the Golden Tuning Fork (1997), the Crown of Folk Music (1998, 1999, 2003) and the Golden Hen for her life's work (2007).
Marianne and Michael – fan hike to the Jakobskreuz
And there is another reason to be happy.
In September they want to invite their followers for two days in the mountains near Fieberbrunn in Austria, where they themselves like to relax.
The destination is expected to be the Jacob's Cross on the summit of the Buchensteinwand, through whose valley the Way of St. James leads.

Not retirement, but a completely unpleasant topic, is currently occupying another pop star: just a few days after the death of his wife, Amigos star Karl-Heinz (75) received a bold offer.
