Green Party leader Ricarda Lang severely criticized CSU leader Markus Söder in a speech.

CSU General Martin Huber now countered - and defended himself vehemently.

Update from February 6th, 9:25 a.m.:

Green Party co-leader Ricarda Lang addressed the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) in a speech and called on him to show more solidarity with the Greens.

Background: The Greens have recently been subjected to repeated attacks and hateful tirades at their events.

Söder did not respond directly to the allegations, but his Secretary General Martin Huber did.

Lang's "insinuations" were "indecent and far-fetched," he now told

Focus

.

Markus Söder and the CSU would defend democracy with all their might.

Green Party leader Lang said, among other things, that she expected Söder to “defend the foundations of our democracy together with us.”

CSU General Secretary Huber said that if the Greens wanted to defend democracy, they should focus on ideology-free politics and “thus remove the breeding ground for the AfD and discontent among the population.”

It is not Söder and the CSU who are to blame for the bad mood in Germany, but rather the “miserable politics” of the traffic light coalition.

Green Party co-chair Ricarda Lang complained about Markus Söder's propaganda against the Greens.

Green Party leader Ricarda Lang attacks Söder: “Not understanding the seriousness of the situation”

Munich – “Inciters, inciters, igniters”: Söder and Aiwanger’s “verbal armament” against the Greens was the main topic at the strong beer speech at Nockherberg.

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) let the allegations roll off his back.

Just like in Carmen Miosga's ARD broadcast on Sunday evening, in which the CSU boss once again had to justify his tough course against the Greens.

Now Green Party leader Ricarda Lang addressed Söder directly: In a speech on Monday (March 4th), she formulated her expectations of the Bavarian Prime Minister - but also made a promise to him.

The Green Party leader published an excerpt from a speech on “, said Lang.

Of course, it is “important and right” that the CSU leader criticizes his political competitor, and the political Ash Wednesday is harsh.

“The problem is, for Markus Söder it seems to be political Ash Wednesday 365 days a year.”

Ricarda Lang about Markus Söder: “Don’t expect him to be nice”

“I don’t expect Markus Söder to be nice to me or to be particularly friendly to our party,” the 29-year-old continued.

But she expects Söder to “defend the foundations of our democracy together with us.”

Conversely, she promised that the Greens would always show solidarity if hateful tirades or even violence were to affect Söder or other CSU members.

“If one of us is attacked by right-wing extremists, if a border is crossed because violence occurs, if police forces are attacked and people can no longer feel safe at events, then all democrats must stand together,” demanded Ricarda Lang.

Ricarda Lang receives a lot of hostility - not just from Markus Söder

Söder has been attracting attention for a long time because, like Free Voters leader Hubert Aiwanger, he is massively anti-Green.

For many, his verbal attacks go too far.

The biggest outrage recently was that he insulted Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke (Greens) as “Green Margot Honecker” during the political Ash Wednesday.

In the same speech, he compared Green Party leader Ricarda Lang to his dog - although the dog came out better than Lang, because he at least had "an education," was Söder's dig at the Green Party leader, who dropped out of her law studies without completing her degree.

Ricarda Lang has to defend herself against a lot of hostility - not only from Markus Söder, but especially on social networks, where, according to her own statement, there is a hail of hate comments mainly from the “extreme right-wing spectrum”.

During the farmers' protests over agricultural diesel, a defamatory poster was put up that insultingly discussed the figure of the politician.

Söder defends himself against accusations that he is stirring up hatred against the Greens

During Söder's television appearance on Carmen Miosga, the Bavarian Prime Minister was attributed joint responsibility for the outbursts of hatred against the Greens.

Zeit

journalist Mariam Lau and political scientist Julia Reuschenbach accused him of fueling the mood by repeatedly discussing alleged “forced veganization” and portraying the Greens as a “ban party” that does not have the “Bavarian gene

.”

In a recent interview with Merkur.de

, Green MP Martin Stümpfig also complained

that Söder was adding more fuel to the already heated mood.

Söder defended himself against the allegations at Miosga: He said he would not allow himself to be forbidden from having a different opinion than the Greens.

If that doesn't suit you, you should write down a "moral code" for him, which you will then learn by heart, said the CSU boss sarcastically.
