Daniela Bomann photographed Venice during the Corona pandemic.

Her pictures can currently be seen in the Wolfratshausen district court.

Wolfratshausen - Empty streets, morbid house facades, canals softened by the gray morning fog and the view over the calm sea to Burano.

The Italian lagoon city of Venice is deserted.

Solution to the puzzle: The photographer Daniela Bomann went looking for a motif during the corona pandemic.

“Venice will never be this deserted again,” says the photo artist.

“Venice” is the name of her exhibition, which can currently be seen in the Wolfratshausen district court on Bahnhofstrasse.

Venice during the Corona pandemic: photo exhibition in Wolfratshausen

Venice is usually full of life and a pure sea of color, says the artist, who has often visited the capital of the Veneto region.

Having the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge to yourself was a special experience, Bomann remembers the time when tourists and cruise ships had to stay away from Venice.

Some of her photos are taken in black and white.

“I come from the analogue era,” says the 61-year-old native of Lower Bavaria who lives in Munich.

She came to exhibition organizer Dietmar Galuschka through a recommendation from her artist friend Elfi Bilger, who exhibited her works in the district court some time ago.

Word is getting around across the region that the Wolfratshausen authority offers artists a free public exhibition platform.

Photo exhibition in the Wolfratshausen district court: tour with the artist

A tour with the artist shows that in addition to the expressive city motifs that the photographer always captures in a deserted place - "you have to wait for the time until the place belongs to you alone" - you can also see completely abstract motifs in bright colors.

They are water reflections.

The photographer emphasizes that these were not post-processed on the computer.

The strong color contrasts are created on the rippled canal water by the reflections of the colorful house facades.

“I have a soft spot for water because it always shows a new face in its three physical states – liquid, solid and evaporated.

Nothing is more transient than water.” She only presses the shutter button a maximum of two times and then the picture is taken.

Bomann discovered her passion for photography as a child through her father, who ran a postcard publishing house in Pfronten and developed his photos in the darkroom.

The freelance photographer has been working digitally since 2008.

“I still have the old film rolls in the fridge today.”
