The school and the associative world on the topic of disability "must work together".

This was said by the Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli at the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

"Because my feeling - he continued - is that the associations are occasionally present in the world of schools as evidence and that there are very interesting projects that are proposed by schools, students and teachers that concern inclusion. It is as if they were still two slightly separate worlds. The challenge for next year, and on which we must work this year by also collecting the proposals of the federations, is to work together. When schools do a project on inclusion they feel the associative world and when the associations enter schools involve all teachers and all students. Only in this way can we truly bear witness to change, inclusion, everyone's protagonism and truly bring a better future to our schools, but above all outside where real life is truly complex".

Locatelli reiterated: "We are in a moment of great change. An epochal challenge that we must play to the hilt" and announced his intention to involve students more.

"Next year I would like us - he concluded - to find ourselves here and for the voice to be above all the children's voices.

I would like them to speak to describe what happens every day at school, in classes, among classmates, in friendship networks, even outside of school, it was you guys, because you are the protagonists."

And the Minister for Education and Merit reiterated: "With Minister Locatelli we have agreed - said Valditara - to make the UN Convention for people with disabilities known in schools and, I add, to include it in the field of Civic Education. Why participation of children is fundamental. I believe very much in the fact that children themselves are the protagonists of education".
