Mindelheim - There was a serious traffic accident in Mindelheim on March 5th around lunchtime.

A 41-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle near the entrance to Heimenegg and suffered serious injuries.

“At around 12:50 p.m., the 41-year-old driver was driving on the local road coming from state highway 2518 in a southerly direction to Heimenegg,” the police said in the press release.

After a left turn, his car veered off the road to the right for unknown reasons.

About 20 meters further he crashed head-on into a tree.

An alert road user who arrived at the scene of the accident shortly afterwards provided first aid.

Accident towards Heimenegg: Car hits a tree head-on

The emergency services were alerted and had to free the injured driver from the vehicle.

Due to the severity of his injuries, he was transported to a hospital by rescue helicopter.

While the accident was being recorded, the route between Heimenegg and the state road was closed in both directions by the fire department.

The vehicle, which suffered a total economic loss of around 5,000 euros, was no longer drivable.

The rescue service and the voluntary fire brigades of Mindelheim and Mindelau were on site with a total of 45 emergency services.
