Edelweiss shooting champion Hubert Lachner wants to score a direct hit by organizing the local shooting competition.
He hopes for many visitors.

It's supposed to be a big party.
The Edelweiß Hohenbachern club is motivated to take advantage of the opportunity to promote the shooting sport with district shooting.

- “Whether young or old, whether female or male, from March 8th we will show who is the best shooter.” This is how the Edelweiß Hohenbachern shooting club advertises this year's shooting competition of the Sportschützengau Freising on its website.
The Hohenbachern club is hosting this huge event for the first time, even though it is one of the largest clubs in the Freisinger Gau with 200 members.
“We wanted to host our club’s anniversary in 2021, but Corona got in the way,” says 1st shooting master Hubert Lachner.
“We couldn’t hold the district shooting event for a long time because we don’t have a large hall like other shooting clubs,” he explains.
Thanks to electronic shooting ranges, the rush of shooters can now be dealt with more quickly.
From March 8th to 24th, around 1,300 marksmen will be competing in the shooting center at Moosgasse 19 - but not without renovation work.
“In addition to our eleven shooting ranges in the basement, we will also set up up to eight shooting ranges in the attic,” announces Lachner.
Two containers with changing rooms and a tent are set up in front of the shooting center.
Lachner promises: “That’s where the fun goes!”
Only the final shooting on March 24th, where the best seven shooters in the four disciplines compete against each other, will take place at the Ertl family in Hohenbachern at Ortsstraße 7.
Lachner wants to promote this final shooting in particular: “It’s going to be a blast!” he announces.
“Everyone is allowed to come, even those who have not yet had any contact with shooting sports.”

According to Lachner, the spectators, for whom a grandstand will be set up specifically, will discover how exciting this sport can be.
The shooters march in to applause and music and a moderator explains what is happening at the shooting range.
“When there are good hits, people cheer loudly and clap,” says the master marksman, describing the atmosphere.
“For some athletes it will be a challenge to shoot with concentration in noise,” he believes.
But everyone interested is not only invited to the final shooting: “We have great food and drink every day from March 8th to 24th and parties in between like the Schlager party or live folk music,” reports Lachner.
Gauschiessen is coming up with innovations
“Sport shooting is cool and sexy!” With this sentence, Edelweiß Hohenbachern advertises for sponsors, partners and friends at the presentation.
According to Hubert Lachner, since Corona it has been difficult to motivate young people in particular to go to the shooting range again, which is why the club is hoping for an increase in active members through the district shooting.

The club has been planning the district shooting since late summer last year.
Lachner came up with a few innovations for his premiere: For the first time in the history of the Gauschiessen in Freising, there will be an official opening evening.
As early as March 7th, a service will be celebrated, greetings will be spoken and the opening target will be shot.
And instead of a printed program booklet, the website www.gauschiessen-2024.de has been set up with all the information.
A glass with their names will also be engraved in the shooting center for all young participants.
Set-up work, catering, the shooting process, decorating the village - so that the district shooting can take place successfully, it's not just Edelweiss members who get involved.
The whole village helps.
Lachner: “There are around 100 people involved.”
