Energy consumption: in Paris, renovation work in social housing is proving its worth

In a study it has just published, the Parisian Urban Planning Workshop (Apur) reveals that the energy consumption of Parisian social housing decreased by 28% on average when energy renovation work was carried out.

This feedback covers 51 operations undertaken between 2012 and 2020 on 9,162 housing units belonging to the three largest Parisian landlords.

“This is the first study of this magnitude on a French scale and its results are more positive than those carried out on a European scale,” underlines Jacques Baudrier, deputy (PCF) at Paris town hall in charge of housing.

The first deputy (PS), Emmanuel Grégoire, for his part praises an “extremely ambitious study” making it possible to “verify that the thermal renovation of social housing translates concretely into a reduction in energy consumption”.
