It would be the second major new hotel project in Bayrischzell within a few years: the new Explorer Hotel on Seeberg.

The plans are making progress.

Bayrischzell

– Number eleven celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony these days: the new Explorer Hotel in Neustift in the Stubaital is scheduled to be completed by December 2024.

The group from the Allgäu wants to fill the dozen with their twelfth base camp: in Bayrischzell.

“We are on the right track,” says managing director Katja Leveringhaus when asked by our newspaper.

If everything goes according to plan, construction could start at the foot of the Seeberg in spring 2025, and the opening could then take place towards the end of the year, as in the Stubaital.

What makes Leveringhaus confident, in addition to the “constructive and positive collaboration” with the community and specialist authorities, is the mood in the town.

This improved significantly after a presentation of the hotel project with 100 double rooms to the citizens.

For the Explorer group, this is a basic requirement when choosing a location: “We only want to go to places where we and our guests feel welcome.”

More information at the citizens' meeting

The next mood barometer may be available at the Bayrischzell citizens' meeting on Wednesday, March 13th, said town hall manager Josef Acher when asked.

Mayor Georg Kittenrainer will inform the public about the latest planning status.

Acher doesn't want to give him much in advance.

But he also confirms that the planning is making steady progress.

The remaining questions regarding flood protection have now been clarified by an expert and coordinated with the water management office.

In terms of traffic development, the municipality will synchronize the renovation of the bridge to the mobile home parking space with the construction of the hotel.

Meanwhile, the campers' vehicles could - as recently discussed by the local council - move to the valley station of the suspension lift to Sudelfeld.

Part of the solution to the parking shortage feared by some local councilors is the loss of a number of parking spaces by the Explorer Hotel.

On top of that, in summer you still have the ice rink and the hiking car park at Seeberg available.

Acher explains that all of these questions are also part of public participation in the planning process, provided that the local council also agrees to the approval and interpretation following the majority decision in June 2023.

Design largely unchanged

Leveringhaus emphasizes that nothing significant has changed in the design itself in the meantime.

The creed of the Explorer Hotels is that the individual locations are highly recognizable.

So if you want to know what the house, its rooms and public areas will look like in the end, just click through to the website.

We're talking about modern design rooms with panoramic views, a spa and fitness area, a breakfast buffet with eggs you can fry yourself, a workbench and washing area for mountain bikes, and lockable ski lockers.

The Explorer Hotels are intended to make a major contribution to sustainability through their construction as passive houses, electric charging stations in the underground car park and by making train travel more attractive through a ten percent discount on the room price.

By being open 365 days a year, Leveringhaus also hopes to attract many suitable employees - including from the region.

“We want to enrich the place with our house – all year round.”

The citizens' Assembly

This year's citizens' meeting of the Bayrischzell community will take place on Wednesday, March 13th, in the Klosterhof zur Post.

Starts at 8 p.m.

The agenda includes the mayor's activity report as well as motions and an opportunity for discussion.

All community residents are invited.
