Comeback postponed: goalkeeper “Dino” Gerry Hillringhaus © GH
Bad Heilbrunn/Landsberg - Everything was prepared - from the gloves to the dress with the number 1 on the back to the top fitness condition: On Saturday, Gerald "Gerry" Hillringhaus wanted what was probably the most unusual comeback in the Bavarian amateur on the FT Jahn Landsberg course -Celebrate football: The former FC Bayern keeper (17 Bundesliga and four UEFA Cup games for the German record champions) was supposed to guard the goal of his hometown club SV Bad Heilbrunn in the district league game against the newly promoted team from Lech.
And at 61 years old!
Even Munich tabloid newspapers announced their presence in this game.
And now this: “I almost have tears in my eyes.
“It was the worst thing that could have happened to me in terms of sport,” said the “goalkeeper grandpa” (eight grandchildren).
Last Saturday, in HSV's last friendly match against SG Gaissach/Wackersberg, Gerry suffered a painful capsule injury in his left foot while defending a free kick and had to be out at half-time.
The end also for the Bad Heilbrunner league game opener on Saturday in Landsberg: “I have a very swollen elephant foot, so nothing will work this weekend.” Particularly annoying: “I've never had any injury problems throughout my entire career - and now this,” said the ex-professional.
Slight all-clear after a detailed examination on Wednesday: “Fortunately nothing was broken and nothing was torn.
The syndesmosis ligament also remained intact,” reports Bavaria’s oldest district league goalkeeper.
“My comeback is only postponed, not canceled,” says the “football madman” (Hillringhaus about himself) once again combatively: “I want to get back in the goal as quickly as possible.
If everything goes perfectly, maybe it will work out next Sunday in the home game against Neuhadern.
In Landsberg, Gerry's predecessor Christoph Hüttl, who actually only wanted to play up front, will be in goal again.
