Instagram has expanded its offering of direct messaging (DMs) features to improve the user experience when communicating on the platform, NEXTG.tv reports.
The latest updates include the ability to edit messages after they've been sent, pin important chats to the top of your inbox (known from WhatsApp), manage read receipts, and save favorite stickers for quicker access.
These innovations demonstrate Instagram's commitment to simplify interaction between users while increasing control over personal communication.
Since the latest update, direct messages on Instagram can be edited for 15 minutes.

Editing direct messages
A standout feature is the ability to edit sent messages up to 15 minutes after they were sent.
Users can now correct typos or change wording by long-pressing on the message and selecting Edit from the drop-down menu.
This feature brings a new level of flexibility and control to communication on Instagram.
Chats can now be pinned in Instagram DMs.

Pin important chats
To improve inbox organization, Instagram now allows you to pin up to three 1:1 or group chats.
This option is accessible by swiping left on a chat or tapping it and selecting Pin.
Pinning important conversations makes it easy to access them quickly and helps you stay on top of things.
The read receipt on Instagram can now be switched off for more data protection.

Users can long-press a sticker to add it to their favorites.
