After the rumors of recent days, Meta has made an important update for Instagram official.
For a few hours now it has been possible to modify a message exchanged with a user in chat, within 15 minutes of the first sending.
Before the news, the only possible option was to delete the sentence completely and rewrite it.
To edit it, simply hold down the text and select the "edit" button from the drop-down menu.
The edited message will show the wording "modified" in the conversation, so as to make the interlocutor understand that it is a modified sentence, albeit without displaying which parts have been changed.
This innovation puts Instagram on a par with platforms such as Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, Telegram and Apple's iMessage, for which message editing was already enabled.
The editing feature arrives on Instagram chats just a few months after Meta was introduced on Messenger.
Although cross-platform messaging between Instagram and Messenger has no longer been possible since December, the two apps continue to share a number of features.
Another significant addition is the ability to pin Instagram Direct Messages to up to three chats at the top of the context menu, offering support for both group chats and one-to-one conversations.
Users will be able to swipe left or tap and hold on a chat to select the "pinned" option and keep the window at the top of the messaging interface, making it easier to access more important conversations or conversations with people with that is talked about most frequently.
Users will also have the ability to turn read receipts on or off and reply to messages with stickers, animated images, videos, photos and audio files.
