The “Respect and Principle Committee” of La France insoumise rendered its decision this Wednesday.

One of its activists, Damien Cassé, who is the subject of a complaint for rape of his partner Ersilia Soudais, rebellious deputy for the 7th constituency of Seine-et-Marne, was excluded “as a precautionary measure” from the party , as the latter announced to Le Parisien.

The day before, the movement's “sexual and gender-based violence” unit had been contacted by Ersilia Soudais herself, a few days after her complaint was filed on Saturday March 2.

Providing her “personal and political support” on Tuesday evening to her colleague, LFI MP Clémentine Autain called on her party to “urgently, if it has not already done so, the Committee for Respect for Principles (CRP) to put remotely the author of the facts denounced by our colleague MP, who is a rebel, municipal elected official.

Damien Cassé, LFI activist and opposition municipal councilor in Noisiel (Seine-et-Marne), was taken into police custody in Dammarie-les-Lys (Seine-et-Marne) on Tuesday afternoon.

The facts denounced by the deputy in her complaint occurred on the night of February 29 to March 1 at the couple's home in Villeparisis.

An investigation opened for “rape by spouse”

A flagrant investigation was opened by the public prosecutor of Meaux, “on counts of rape by a spouse, moral harassment, malicious telephone calls and psychological violence”, specifies Jean-Baptiste Bladier this Wednesday morning.

Due to the victim's parliamentary mandate, she was entrusted to the sub-directorate of the Melun Judicial Police.

Contacted by Le Parisien, the defendant's lawyer, Yassine Bouzrou, ensures that his client “strongly contests the accusations brought against him”.

For her part, Me Jade Dousselin, counsel for Ersilia Soudais, welcomes “the great speed of justice in this case, which demonstrates, if necessary, that it took the full measure of the seriousness of the facts denounced ".

The complainant has been a deputy for France Insoumise in the 7th constituency of Seine-et-Marne since June 19, 2022 and was an opposition municipal councilor in Lagny-sur-Marne from 2020 to 2022.
