Born in 1956 in Port-au-Prince, professor of French and Creole literature, novelist and poet, Lyonel Trouillot is considered today as one of the greatest Haitian writers.
In his latest novel,
Veilleuse du Calvaire
(Actes Sud), he pays tribute to these women, bearers of life, hope and joy, who fight against precariousness, fear, decay, which have become the daily reality of a large part of the population.

Lyonel TROUILLOT. -
My childhood: a culture of whispers, the curfew, missing people about whom it was forbidden to ask for news, the parades and parades of soldiers and Macoutes, the nasal voice of “good Doctor Duvalier” on the radio.
But also the literature and history which entered the house through the voices of the uncle and the father (historians and teachers).
