A new armed robbery of incredible violence in Marseille.
This Tuesday, March 5, at the end of the day, the manager of a bakery located in the 13th arrondissement of Marseille was violently attacked and robbed by four masked robbers when he had just left his establishment by car.
According to consistent police sources, the events occurred around 8 p.m., at the closing of this bakery which was visibly monitored by the criminals.
His manager, who had just closed the curtain with his daily recipe in his pocket, was about to hit the road at the wheel of his Range Rover when a Renault Mégane equipped with a blue flashing light blocked his way.
Believing it was a traffic stop, the victim stopped, before seeing several hooded and threatening individuals get out of the vehicle.
The robbers' car found on fire
One of the criminals, carrying a 9mm automatic pistol, directly attacked the manager by hitting him several times with a rifle butt.
According to a police source, his accomplices then tried to force the manager into their trunk.
The latter struggled forcefully and even managed to undo the magazine containing the cartridges for the automatic pistol before being stabbed twice.
The attackers finally managed to get their hands on the bag containing the recipe for the manager's bakery, in addition to stealing his Rolex watch and the keys to his Range Rover, before fleeing in their Mégane.
The latter, declared stolen and falsely registered, was found burned in the town of Aubagne.
The manager, suffering from two stab wounds to the chest and suffering from wounds to the skull, was evacuated to hospital without a life-threatening condition.
This Wednesday, the perpetrators of this violent robbery were still actively sought.
An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Bouches-du-Rhône police force, regularly seized for similar cases in Marseille.
Since the end of 2023, two groups from the Interdepartmental Directorate of the Bouches-du-Rhône National Police (DIPN 13) have been entirely dedicated to resolving these violent robberies.
Last year, 133 cases of armed robberies were recorded in the department, compared to 109 in 2022, an increase of 22% in these violent thefts.
