The State Building Authority wants to expand and renovate roads in the Ebersberg district this year for around 12 million euros.

To ensure that nothing goes wrong, state parliament member Thomas Huber has now taken care of the projects;

went on a county tour.

Who knows what would have happened otherwise.

District

– Thomas Huber is wearing brown leather shoes this morning.

Still, it's a rubber boot appointment.

The behavior of his two employees suggests this conclusion: The duo hovers around the Grafinger CSU state parliament member with their cell phones out, filming him as if he were Chancellor Schröder at the flood of the century in 2002, when he waded in rubber boots to his re-election victory against Edmund Stoiber.

Politicians have known since then at the latest: caring gets votes – if the pictures are right.

The member of the state parliament lets the local mayors line up - district administrators and heads of authorities in tow

Fortunately, the Ebersberg district is currently spared from once-in-a-century floods, and MdL Thomas Huber has something else to worry about.

Road construction, for example.

So that morning he toured from one pothole to the other, with an entourage of authorities and his party friend, District Administrator Robert Niedergesäß, in tow.

The local mayors also have to compete when they get up close and personal with the asphalt in Emmering, Frauenneuharting, Grafing, Glonn, Oberpframmern, Zorneding and Poing.

Six projects, all of which are to be built this year or next year at the latest.

The planning had long been put in place, but Thomas Huber wasn't there yet.

Construction work planned soon for state and district roads in the Ebersberg district:

Glonn

: Renewal of the town thoroughfare (St 2079) in August, length: 770 meters, cost estimate: 600,000 euros.

Emmering

: Emmering–Schalldorf road renovation (St 2079), 2.3 kilometers in July, 1.2 million euros;

Attelbrücke near Bruckhof is scheduled to follow in 2025.

Oberpframmern

: New construction of a walking and cycle path towards Harthausen/Putzbrunn (St 2079) from June to October, 4.2 kilometers, 2.5 million euros.

Zorneding

: New road between Pöring and Wolfesing (St 2081) at the end of April, 2.5 kilometers, 850,000 euros.

Grafing

: New footpath and cycle path to Oberelkofen (St2089) from June to July, 700 meters, 450,000 euros.

Poing

: Expansion of Gruber Straße/Poing West local thoroughfare (district road EBE 1) in 2025, 1 kilometer, 2.8 million euros.

Frauenneuharting

: Expansion of the EBE 09 from Jakobneuharting towards Grafing (EBE 9) from June to October, 1 kilometer, 2.3 million euros.

The Rosenheim State Building Authority is planning smaller renovation measures on state and district roads across the district

this year, which are expected to total around 1.3 million euros.

The planned total amount is around 12 million euros.

It's important to me that we all have each other on site.

Thomas Huber

“It’s important to me that we all have each other on site,” the MP said at one point.

“So that we have an overview, for us in politics.” After all, he has already experienced countless road construction projects where there was not enough communication - and a corner was overlooked or a section was soon opened up again for a line.

But not this time.

This time the MdL is on site.

And so he takes care when Emmering's mayor Claudia Streu-Schütze emphasizes that when driving through Schalldorf you have to think about the sidewalk, the rainwater canal and the fiber optic cable.

Daniel Drachenberg, department head in the Rosenheim road construction department responsible for the Ebersberg district, exudes obedience: “We will of course coordinate this with each other.” Huber nods and says: “So that is in view.” It is true: his employees are conscientiously filming.

And Stefan Leitner, head of the road construction department at the State Building Authority, says about drives that regularly take place without Huber: “We know the condition of our roads very well.”

It's also about educating and informing.

Thomas Huber

“It’s also about educating and informing,” says the MP.

And about questions of style that are clearly circling in the minds of politicians: District Administrator Niedergesäß, who has just come from the inauguration of a transformer house as a nesting place for swifts, has his driver bring a high-visibility vest to the side of the road.

Then he changes his mind and lets her go back instead of putting her on.

Huber only pauses for a moment and also remains without a vest.

Sometimes the rubber boots are invisible.

The entourage has moved on - the member of the state parliament and his two employees, the district administrator and his head of mobility, the two heads of authorities from Rosenheim and the development cooperation center.

At the Jakobneuhartinger Maypole, Frauenneuharting's mayor is ready for the next bumpy stretch, a photogenic pothole in sight.

“We work well with the district office and the Free State,” praised Mayor Eduard Koch (non-party).

“We are widening according to the current status,” says Thomas Huber, looking at the road towards Grafing and receiving obedient nods from those around him.

At the pothole

His research assistant ran to photograph the pothole.

The intern films the exchange.

Then he also photographs the pothole.

“This example shows how important collaboration is,” says Huber.

He means the road renovation, which the building authority, district office and, above all, the mayor fought for because it was so difficult to acquire land.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

Then I'll take care of it.

Thomas Huber

Mayor Christian Bauer (CSU) stands at the entrance to Grafingen and looks at tree stumps where the cycle path to Elkofen is to be built in the summer.

Everything cleared up?”, Huber cares.

“Everything has been sorted out,” says Bauer.

“I'm looking forward to it.” The building officials had previously explained that there were also land purchases to negotiate here and sand lizards to scare away.

“Those are the challenges,” says Huber and nods.

The district administrator jokes about the lengthy negotiations that precede such construction work: “Lots of once-in-a-century projects that we are looking at today.” The state parliament member likes the joke so much that he repeats it: “Lots of once-in-a-century projects that will be solved this year.”

Before he gets into the car and heads to the next stop in the mayor's line, it's all about money.

Huber wants to know how much money flows from the Free State to the district for road construction.

Finally, the state government ensured that 500 million euros would be distributed across Bavaria instead of the previous 440 million euros.

“We don’t have a budget yet,” says road construction department head Leitner about the ongoing readings in the state parliament.

Huber, deputy chairman of the social committee, says: “I’ll take care of it.” The camera is running.
