The MVV network expansion has already been completed since December 2023, but now there was an official appointment with Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – The MVV network expansion in December 2023 was a really big success.

Half a million more people have been reached since then, and finally in Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen: one district, one tariff, one ticket.

“This is a heartfelt wish come true,” emphasized District Administrator Josef Niedermaier once again at a press event on Wednesday in Lenggries.

In addition to the Tölzer Land, the Miesbach district and the city and district of Rosenheim now belong to the network.

Since then, the Kochelseebahn has also been operating under the MVV tariff, although the Weilheim-Schongau district, whose area the railway crosses, will only join the network next year.

The Free State supports the network expansion with 34.4 million

The Free State gave a strong boost to implementation.

Bavaria's Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter presented the symbolic funding decision for 34.4 million euros on Wednesday.

The symbolic meaning is literal, because most of the money has long since flowed.

Among other things, the Free State supported the basic study to investigate the expansion of the network with 7.8 million euros.

The implementation then required one-off investments in ticket printers, timetable notices and the adaptation of ticket machines.

The Free State also supports municipalities in compensating for loss of revenue by transport companies, which arise because MVV tickets are often cheaper than previous tickets.

The delta finances the municipalities.

Verbund makes public travel easier and more convenient

The introduction of the Deutschlandticket has not changed the usefulness of the association.

“There are still many who depend on the association,” emphasized Bernreiter, referring to the 10.5 million Germany tickets sold.

The expansion ensures “that public travel becomes easier and more convenient.

One click, one ticket.”

MVV managing director Bernd Rosenbusch can only confirm this.

Previously he would have needed four tickets to travel from the Starnberg district to Lenggries.

“Since December, I’ve only needed one.” And next year, using the MVV means of transport will be much easier.

“Check in/check out procedure” is the magic word.

“You swipe in the app when you get in and swipe when you get out – and the best price is automatically charged,” promised Rosenbusch.

Good public transport also enables people without a car to participate.

“The association is more than a tariff.” Niedermaier sees it similarly.

“It is a step towards a transport transition – and it is the right step for the next few decades.”
