A 28-year-old man was taken into police custody on Monday evening when he allegedly tried to kill his partner in Villeneuve-Loubet (Alpes-Maritimes), a town on the Riviera coast west of Nice.

The vital prognosis of this 31-year-old woman is

“at this stage engaged”

, specified the public prosecutor of Grasse, Damien Savarzeix.

Around 9 p.m. on Monday, the suspect himself called the fire brigade to report that his partner had been the victim of a domestic accident.

It turns out that he lied.

The emergency services, accompanied by a crew from the municipal police, noted on their arrival in the apartment that the young woman was

“unconscious”

and

“bloody”

.

The man, who was intoxicated, also had

“traces of blood”

on his body and clothes, the Grasse prosecutor's office reported in a press release on Tuesday.

Ongoing investigation

In the process, he was placed in police custody, suspected by the police of having wanted to kill his partner.

The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmes of the Cannes research brigade.

Investigations continue under the flagrant regime.

These facts are reminiscent of those of last week, in the neighboring town of Cagnes-sur-Mer.

A man was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention for intentional homicide of a spouse.
