The forty-year-old would have fallen from at least fifteen floors from a building in Marina Baie des Anges, a housing complex located on the edge of the Riviera coast, west of Nice.

An investigation by the national gendarmerie is underway to determine the exact causes of death and whether it was an accidental fall or a suicide.

From this height, there was in any case little doubt regarding the fatal outcome.

The events occurred in broad daylight.

On site, the emergency services and the police officers dispatched took some time to identify the victim's body.

They ended up discovering that it was a colleague, in civilian clothes that day, who worked with the border police at Nice Côte d'Azur airport.

He was returning from a long convalescence, we were told.

On the same day, the police learned of another death of one of their own.

A police officer from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) of Antibes, who lived in Cannes, was found unresponsive in his apartment on Monday.

Here too, an investigation is underway to try to find out the reasons for the death.

The Alliance police nationale des Alpes-Maritimes union paid tribute on its Facebook page to the memories of Patrice M. and Stéphane P.,
