Super Tuesday brings the decision: Donald Trump will be the Republican candidate in the US election - and will meet an old acquaintance there.
Washington DC - The US primaries apparently end with a winner for the Republicans: Donald Trump will run for the 2024 US election in November as the candidate of the “Grand Old Party” (GOP).
One day after the so-called Super Tuesday of the US primaries, Nikki Haley, his only remaining competitor, withdrew from the election campaign.

announced the end of Nikki Haley's candidacy
on Wednesday morning.
Accordingly, Haley will announce the end of her campaign at 10 a.m. local time (4 p.m. German time), it was said.
Donald Trump has taken a significant step closer to his goal of re-election.
The ex-president beat the competition in the primaries and will run against Joe Biden again in November.

The way is now clear for a repeat of the 2020 duel between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
The incumbent US President received a total of around 7 million more votes four years ago.
Due to the US electoral system, it was ultimately only 42,918 votes that made the difference in the three states of Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin and made Biden the winner.
Now Trump has another chance for a second term in the White House.
Donald Trump has long been the favorite in the polls for the Republican primaries.
His triumph on Super Tuesday finally paved the way for the Republican candidacy.
Trump won 14 of the 15 primaries that took place in different US states.
This did not mean he secured the necessary number of 1,215 delegates.
The following day, his competitor Nikki Haley nevertheless drew the conclusions from the fact that she only had a mathematical chance of denying Trump victory.
Because there is no candidate left after Haley's departure, Trump is the designated GOP presidential candidate for the 2024 US election.

The final decision as to who will govern the USA in the next four years is traditionally made on the first Tuesday in November, this year November 5, 2024. But because, as in the past two years, a close race is expected this time too, it is likely It will take several days to weeks before the final results of the US election are known.
