The year 2023 was an eventful year for the Geiselbullach fire department - and not just because of the storm.
Geiselbullach – With 260 missions, it was the busiest year in the history of the fire department.
Commander Tim Pelzl recently reported this at the annual general meeting.
According to the press release, the main causes were two storms and heavy snowfall in early December.
The storm operations add up to 70 in number.
So there are still a few left.
So, according to Pelzl, there was a lot else going on too.
For comparison: in 2022, the fire department, which also covers the motorway, reported 193 missions (98 of which were technical assistance).
Change of leadership
District fire inspector Jörg Ramel praised the volunteers' commitment.
Olching's mayor Andreas Magg did the same and also pointed out how important the mental and physical integrity of his comrades was.
Club chairman Markus Schnell, who took over the office from Robert Meier in 2018, spoke for the last time in this role.
He presented the activities and financial situation of the fire brigade association.
In the subsequent election, Schnell no longer stood for election.
Tobias Jasny, previously deputy, was unanimously elected to the office of club chairman.
Sascha Stirm was also unanimously elected as the new deputy and Christoph Holter as auditor.
According to Schnell's term of office, the old friendship with the Solingen fire department was revived, a new friendship with the Biel fire department in Switzerland was established, the Geiselbullach fire department's first fire engine - the Opel Blitz from 1972 - was bought back and a new command car was purchased with club funds.
Honors for loyal members
Finally, there were honors: Jens Metschkoll, Peter Raab and Stefan Strobl were honored for ten years of active service, Andreas Fischer for twenty years of active service and Angelina Müller and Angelika Zettl for thirty years of active service.
