"During 2023, Terna recorded a strong growth trend in new projects for RES (renewable energy sources) plants which require connection to the national transmission grid.
82% of the requests are located in the South and in the major islands. In particular , over half of the RES capacity of connection requests is concentrated in Puglia and Sicily, primarily for off-shore agrivoltaic and wind power plants".
This was said by the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto, in a hearing before the Productive Activities Commission of the Chamber.
"As of 30 June 2023, with 5,054 requests, 317.7 Gw of requested power were achieved (of which 58% from wind sources and 42% from solar sources) - added Pichetto -, while those relating to off-shore wind energy have reached a power of approximately 97 Gw".
