It's not the first time that Dunja Rajter has had to fear for her eyesight - but this time the pop singer was hit even harder than before.

Langen – Dunja Rajter (78) achieved her breakthrough as an actress and pop singer in the 60s and 70s.

She is known for songs like “What’s in it?” or “Salem Aleikum”.

Now the 78-year-old is struggling with a health problem - and is even in danger of going blind.

Almost blind: Pop star Dunja Rajter had to have an eye operation

Recently, pop icon Nino de Angelo (60) spoke openly about his lung disease COPD as part of the “50 Years of Roland Kaiser” show.

Dunja Rajter is now also openly discussing her health situation and reveals that she is in danger of going blind.

The pop singer only has 33 percent vision in her right eye and then the shock: a week ago the 78-year-old suffered a retinal detachment in her left eye.

She now speaks to

about the tragedy: “I knew something was wrong.

It was at night when these flashes came again, then I only saw a black bar in my eye."

Dunja Rajter had already suffered a retinal detachment a few years earlier and was therefore able to correctly interpret the signs early on and act accordingly.

Her husband then drove the pop singer to the hospital and she can happily say that she was able to have surgery immediately.

“That’s a poor quality of life”: Dunja Rajter on her state of health

Now the 78-year-old has to wait.

And with the loss of vision in her left eye, she is only now realizing how little she actually sees with her right eye.

“My good eye has always compensated for the impairment in the right eye.

Now I notice, since I can't see anything in my left eye, how little 33 percent is.

That's poor quality of life.

It's a troubled time for me right now.

But I have faith that I will get well again,” Dunja Rajter

But the singer has hope because the operation went ahead without complications.

She recently filmed for ARD and would like to see the result with her own eyes.

In the 80s, the actress also traveled to Bali on the ZDF “Dream Ship”.

At Easter 2024, the “dream ship” sets off again and goes to Phuket (Thailand) with Captain Max Parger (Florian Silbereisen, 42).
