Caution is therefore advised on roads.
Stuttgart/Freiburg - Winter is back in some areas of the southwest: snow continues to fall, especially at high altitudes, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced.
The roads can also become slippery.
In the southern Black Forest there was thick fog in some places on Wednesday with only low visibility.
The weather service expects further snowfall and slippery conditions in the southern Black Forest, the western Alb and the Allgäu.
There could be freezing wet weather in some places until Thursday morning.
So far, the opportunities for winter sports enthusiasts in the country have been rather limited.
There are five to twelve centimeters of snow in the large Feldberg area, as the Feldbergbahnen reported on their website.
Only 2 of a total of 17 lifts and cable cars are in operation.
The largest winter sports area in the country reported a mixed season at the end of February.
At the end of last month, the DWD summarized that Baden-Württemberg had experienced the mildest winter since temperatures were measured.
According to the information, it was only wintery at the beginning of December and around the middle of January.
Weather experts in this country are guided by the meteorological winter, which lasted from December 1st to February 28th.
