45 families stood alert today (Wednesday), in preparation for the submission of the conclusions of the State Commission of Inquiry regarding the Miron disaster.
In anticipation that has been going on for almost three years, they have been waiting to hear who will be found responsible and pay a personal price for what happened on the terrible day when their loved ones perished - or whether they will escape the serious conclusions of the report and their consequences.
With the publication of the report - which places personal responsibility on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu , the Minister of Internal Security at the time Amir Ohana, the Minister of Religious Services at the time Yaakov Avitan and Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai - the Miron Disaster Families Forum commented on the conclusions. To hear the obvious: whoever is responsible for the success of the revelry, when it succeeds, is also responsible for its failure - a failure that ended with 45 dead citizens and more than 100 wounded."

Israel Diskind, the brother of Simcha Bonim who perished in the disaster and the speaker of the forum, said that "the personal conclusions against those responsible should first and foremost concern you, the citizens of Israel. "We have been waiting for this report for almost three years, and I am hopeful that today, after so much time, the State of Israel will wake up and correct the wrong, both in terms of the responsibility of those who failed in their duties and in terms of commemorating the dead and repairing the mountain from end to end.

This morning, in preparation for the submission of the investigation committee's conclusions, some of the families of those killed in the disaster gave a special message.
"Even then, when we demanded a state commission of inquiry, and even today - we do not demand revenge or the closing of accounts," they said, "we know that the disaster could have been avoided, and that the demand is for attention and responsibility, and for a systemic change in the bodies that were then connected to the disaster."
"We want the future of all of us to be living in a better, safer place, and for people to take more responsibility and pay attention," added representatives of some of the families of those killed in the disaster.
According to them, their main desire is "to benefit all of us in the future. The State Commission of Inquiry's investigation and implementation can lead us all forward to a more responsible and safer place, in order to prevent a similar disaster."
In their statement, the families thanked the members of the judicial committee, Deborah Berliner, Mordechai Karlitz, and Major (in resp.) Shlomo Yanai, and the chairman of the investigative committee, Miriam Naor, who passed away while the work of the investigative committee was in progress. All of it."
