The Minister of Security and Justice of
Santa Fe, Pablo Cococcioni, defended the "Bukele-style" searches
carried out in Penitentiary Unit No. 11, known as Piñero Penitentiary, and warned that the inmates "are going to have an increasingly worse time" in case of continuing attacks.
It was after a shooting attack perpetrated last Saturday against two buses that were transporting personnel from the Santa Fe Penitentiary Service from Rosario to the city of Santa Fe. As a result of the incident, an employee was injured.
“It is clear that a search in sectors of medium or high danger has to have
strict restraint measures
, for strict protection of our personnel,” said the official in dialogue with Radio Miter, and warned again that

“Of course this is not for the entire prison population.
"Whoever does not understand it or has a very strong criminal commitment that does not make the decision to break,

," Cococcioni stressed.
The searches were inspired by the
harsh methods implemented in El Salvador by Nayib Bukele's government
to control the criminal violence of the gangs.
The seized prisoners belong to Fran Riquelme's drug gang.
According to the provincial government, their cell phones were seized and were already placed at the disposal of the Justice Department for examination.
