Lalita Priso experienced an ordeal during her delivery at the Jules-Verne clinic in Nantes.

Lately taken into care by the hospital despite painful contractions, the young woman went into labor in May 2020, after an artificial induction obtained with great struggle according to her, because it fell on a weekend.

At the decisive moment, she found herself without a catheter, with an epidural anesthesia which produced no effect.

Childbirth puts her in torment, an ordeal

Her baby, a little girl, is born dead.

Then, the child reopens his eyes, thirty minutes after birth, she says.

But the lack of oxygen in those first moments caused brain damage.

The caregivers were responsible for pumping blood from his respiratory system for more than a week.

In the meantime, the verdict is in: the little girl is quadriplegic.

Almost four years later, the baby is grown.

Her name is Afény.

Severely disabled in all four limbs, she will never be able to walk or speak.

Her mother describes her as someone who smiles,

She evokes strange behavior from medical staff immediately after the dramatic birth of her baby, awkward silences, shifty glances.

With Afény's father, Lalita Priso launched an interim order against the clinic, in order to be compensated for what they consider to be a series of faults on the part of the establishment.

“The expert opinion procedure was particularly difficult from a procedural point of view.

The first doctor had sent my client's file in 20 minutes, ruling that there was nothing unusual there,”

explains to Le

Maître Vincent Sehier, the parents' counsel, now armed with a second report of medical expertise initialed by 20 specialists.

The experts contacted highlighted a series of failings by medical staff, including an ignored urine analysis which nevertheless revealed the presence of a bacteria dangerous to the fetus.
