Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told police unions Wednesday that there was an "ugly climate" in the country that worried her "especially in the year of the G7", as Italy holds the rotating presidency of the group his year.
"There's a climate I don't like and which concerns me, and which I feel responsible for because some of this climate depends on the fact that there is a need to attack me and the government," she said.
"It concerns me in a particular year, we have the G7 presidency, it will be a very challenging year, which regards our credibility on the international plane and I see tones that remind me of very difficult years for our nation".
