With rain 171 days a year, almost half the year, Singapore is not the country with the most clement weather.
And a luxury hotel in the city-state has understood this well.
To tempt tourists to come to their rooms, a hotel establishment has launched a commercial offer called “Rain Resist Bliss” which plans to reimburse stays in the event of cancellation of activities due to rain, reports CNN.
“I was chatting with a group of friends about the future of luxury travel and one of them jokingly told me that being able to guarantee good weather would be the next level of ultimate luxury travel” , explained Andreas Kraemer, general manager of the hotel, to CNN.
A privilege accessible only to immediate occupants
Be careful, however, this “good weather” insurance, as the hotel likes to call it, is not accessible to all customers unconditionally: to be reimbursed, it must have rained for at least “120 minutes accumulated over a period of 4 hours during the day,” specifies the establishment in a press release.
You will also have to stay in one of the suites on site to hope to be entitled to this guarantee.
And immediately, the affair becomes much less accessible, since the prices of the suites start at 850 Singapore dollars (583 euros) per night and can go up to 4,500 Singapore dollars (3,087 euros) for a night in presidential suite.
Furthermore, there is no question of receiving cash: reimbursement comes in the form of a voucher to be spent within six months in the establishment only.
Its amount corresponds to one night in a suite equivalent to that paid.
Attempts to boost attendance
This atypical measure is in line with several initiatives launched by luxury accommodation establishments to encourage the arrival of tourists.
In Bali, a hotel banned smartphones and other electronic devices poolside to encourage guests to unplug and relax.
Additionally, several hotels and resorts around the world, including the Park Hyatt New York, have created rooms specially designed for an optimal night's sleep, with white noise machines, weighted blankets and special teas to relax. fall asleep.
