Update from March 6th, 8:55 p.m.:

Because Nikki Haley did not speak out for Donald Trump after her withdrawal, there is already sharp criticism from Republicans.

Kari Lake accused former UN Ambassador Haley of having “spent hundreds of millions of dollars in a vanity project.”

Lake, who lost the Senate race in Arizona in 2022, is considered an ardent Trump supporter.

"It's time for people to get behind President Trump," Lake said in an interview with

CNN

.

Update from March 6th, 6:57 p.m.:

Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has expressed his support for Donald Trump.

In recent years, the relationship between the Republican veteran and the former president has cooled enormously;

Trump verbally attacked McConnell more than once.

“It is abundantly clear that former President Trump deserved the requisite support of Republican voters for the nomination for President of the United States,” McConnell said in a statement.

“It should come as no surprise that he will have my support as a candidate,” added the 82-year-old, who will step down from his post at the end of the year.

Haley-Aus after Super Tuesday: Donald Trump calls on voters to donate

Update from March 6th, 5:23 p.m.:

As soon as Nikki Haley dropped out of the presidential race, Donald Trump asked her supporters to pay.

“It was a hard-fought race, but now it is time for us to unite as a party and defeat Joe Biden,”

CNN

quotes from a Trump campaign fundraising appeal.

“Nikki Haley is ending her campaign,” it continues in capital letters.

“If we take back the White House, it will only be because of what you are doing here and now.” Former President Trump needs donations from a million supporters.

There's reason to be happy: After Nikki Haley's resignation, Donald Trump's nomination as the Republican presidential candidate is now just a formality.

Trump shakes hands with Haley voters - Biden is also courting Republican voters

Update from March 6th, 4:55 p.m.:

US President Joe Biden has recruited his supporters after Nikki Haley withdrew from the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

Former President Donald Trump made it clear that he did not want Haley's supporters, the Democrat said on Wednesday.

Biden said he wanted to make it clear that there was a place for her in his campaign.

“I know that we don't agree on a lot of things.” But on the fundamental questions of preserving democracy, advocating for the rule of law, treating each other with decency, dignity and respect, or preserving NATO, we can find common ground find.

Update from March 6th, 4:34 p.m.:

Donald Trump's reaction to Nikki Haley's withdrawal was not long in coming.

“I would also like to invite all Haley supporters to join the greatest movement in our nation’s history,” Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social after praising himself and his campaign following the successful Super Tuesday.

Numerous defeats on Super Tuesday: Nikki Haley drops out of presidential candidacy

Update from March 6th, 4:08 p.m.:

As previously suspected, Nikki Haley is calling on Donald Trump to earn the remaining Republican voters.

The former UN ambassador also congratulated the 77-year-old on his likely nomination as the Republican presidential candidate.

However, there can be no question of an “endorsement”, i.e. Haley’s support for Trump.

Haley ends her press conference with the words “Thank you, God bless America.”

Update from March 6th, 4:05 p.m.:

Nikki Haley emphasizes that she always ran for office out of love for her country.

But now it is time to withdraw the presidential candidacy.

But she will continue to fight for a return to conservative principles.

Update from March 6th, 4:04 p.m.:

With a little delay, Nikki Haley is now appearing in front of the press in her home state of South Carolina.

Update from March 6, 3:40 p.m.:

Nikki Haley will most likely withdraw from the presidential race in a few minutes.

The 52-year-old apparently won't declare her support for Donald Trump.

This is reported by

CNN

, citing sources within the Republicans.

Instead, Haley will call on the ex-president to “earn” her current supporters by the US election next November.

No chance on Super Tuesday: Haley wants to leave the field to Trump

Update from March 6th, 3:09 p.m.:

According to the results of Super Tuesday, everything looks like there will be another duel between Joe Biden and Donald Trump in the 2024 US election.

Nikki Haley will most likely drop out of the running for candidacy later this afternoon.

Haley's positioning towards Trump after her exit could point the way.

According to reports in the

Wall Street Journal

, Haley should not, like the other competitors, support Trump immediately after her exit.

The entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, sided with Trump after they left office and stood up to Haley.

But the 52-year-old had repeatedly taken a clear position against the ex-president in the past.

Haley's voters could end up being of great value to Trump.

This was shown not least by the victory of the former governor of South Carolina on Super Tuesday in Vermont.

Haley probably wants to announce his exit - the path is clear for Trump's candidacy

Update from March 6th, 1:20 p.m.:

Nikki Haley apparently wants to drop out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

Haley is on the verge of withdrawing her application, the

Wall Street Journal

reported .

According to the paper, Haley will announce the end of her campaign at 10 a.m. local time (4 p.m. CET).

Super Tuesday brings the decision: Trump beats Haley

Update from March 6th, 12:05 p.m.:

The Republican primaries are almost decided after Super Tuesday.

Donald Trump is still a few votes short of the 1,215 delegate mark that he needs to win.

But he should probably have it secured by next week, or at the latest in two weeks, when elections take place in Florida, among other places.

Nevertheless, the fact that Nikki Haley won in Vermont and received up to 40 percent in other states is a warning signal for Trump.

This is also proven by a post-election survey by the TV station

CNN

in North Carolina.

Accordingly, 81 percent of those who support Haley said they would not automatically support their party's nominee for president.

In order to win against Joe Biden in the US election in November, Trump depends on the votes of voters who are politically in the middle.

Donald Trump also wins the Utah primaries on Super Tuesday

Update from March 6th, 11:00 a.m.:

Donald Trump also won the Republican primaries in the state of Utah.

According to the

Associated Press

news agency , his lead over his rival Nikki Haley is about 18 percentage points.

This means Trump secures another 40 delegate votes for the nomination party conference in Milwaukee in mid-July.

Update from March 6th, 10:20 a.m.:

After Donald Trump's winning streak on Super Tuesday, his competitor Nikki Haley's campaign team initially reacted soberly.

The campaign team's spokeswoman, Olivia Perez-Cubas, said that night they felt “honored” to have received the support of millions of people across the country.

In every state there are still large numbers of Republicans who express their “deep concern about Donald Trump.”

This is not the unity that the party needs for its success.

Former party strategist Karl Rove had previously warned the Trump team against being too enthusiastic.

Haley herself didn't comment that night.

Donald Trump also wins the Alaska primaries on Super Tuesday

Update from March 6th, 8:55 a.m.:

Donald Trump also won the Republican primary in the state of Alaska on Super Tuesday.

As the

New York Times

reported, Trump was well ahead of Nikki Haley.

Alaska is about four times larger than Germany in terms of area, but it doesn't play a major role in the area codes.

Only 29 of the 2,429 delegate votes are awarded there.

Despite winning streak on Super Tuesday: Republicans warn Trump

Update from March 6th, 8:10 a.m.:

Almost everything went according to plan for Donald Trump on Super Tuesday.

He continued his winning streak in the Republican primaries and increasingly left his rival Nikki Haley behind.

However, not everything was perfect, for two reasons: Firstly, Haley was able to prevent Trump from making a breakthrough with a surprising victory in Vermont, and secondly, a poll in Virginia showed that many Republicans mainly voted for Haley in order to vote against Trump.

This rejection could be dangerous for Trump in the US election in November.

At least that's what Karl Rove said.

In addition to Haley's victory in Vermont, the former Republican chief strategist also referred to the numbers from Virginia, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Maine on Fox News.

Haley did very well everywhere.

“There is still work to be done to unify the Republican Party,” Rove said.

“Team Trump should be worried.”

Trump and Biden extend their winning streak on Super Tuesday

Update from March 6th, 7:15 a.m.:

The US presidential election campaign inevitably boils down to a new edition of the duel between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

As expected, the two arch-rivals extended their winning streaks in their parties' primaries on Super Tuesday.

In the race for the Republican presidential nomination, Trump left no doubt that he is vastly superior to his only remaining party opponent, Nikki Haley.

Over the course of the night, the ex-president triumphed in one state after another and thus continued to distance himself from Haley, almost unassailable.

Meanwhile, President Biden was on track to win each of the 15 states in which Democrats voted.

As the incumbent, he is considered a candidate in his party anyway.

Trump after victory on Super Tuesday: “We have a great Republican Party”

Update from March 6th, 6:15 a.m.:

On election night, Trump appeared at his Mar-a-Lago property in Florida and spoke to his supporters.

At the time, Haley's victory in Vermont was not yet known.

Trump did not comment on his rival, but called on his party to unite.

“We have a great Republican Party with tremendous talent.

And we want unity, and we will have unity, and it will happen very quickly,” he said.

This should be understood as a dig at Haley.

In the past, Trump has often shown himself extremely annoyed by the fact that she doesn't just throw it away.

As long as Haley remains in the race, Trump will have to spend campaign money and time attacking her and cannot focus solely on Biden.

Trump attacked the incumbent in his speech at Mar-a-Lago and accused him of driving the United States to ruin.

Update from March 6th, 5:40 a.m.:

There was a respectable success for Nikki Haley in the state of Vermont.

Donald Trump's intra-party rival won the state in the northeast of the USA, as US media reported.

After almost all votes were counted, the former ambassador to the United Nations had around 50 percent, while Trump got just under 46 percent.

Trump also wins in California on Super Tuesday

Update from March 6th, 5:20 a.m.:

California also clearly goes to Donald Trump.

The major US broadcasters proclaimed Trump the winner over his rival Nikki Haley on Tuesday (March 5, local time) shortly after the polls closed in the state on the US West Coast.

Associated Press

The US broadcaster

CNN

Update from March 6th, 3:05 a.m.:

Texas is another state that Donald Trump will win on Super Tuesday.

This is what the US media predicts unanimously.

Update from March 6th, 2:56 a.m.:

The next success for Donald Trump: According to the

Associated Press,

the ex-president also wins the primary election in Alabama.

The deep red state was seen as a tough sell for Nikki Haley from the start.

Trump's competitor could still hope for a victory in Vermont and Massachusetts on today's Super Tuesday - but otherwise it looks like Trump will win.

Super Tuesday primaries: Trump wins in Oklahoma and Tennessee

Update from March 6th, 2:23 a.m.:

According to several US forecasts, Donald Trump will also secure the southern state of Oklahoma on Super Tuesday.

So far, the ex-president has dominated the Republican primaries.

In Massachusetts, where Nikki Haley is currently slightly ahead of her competitor, there could be a little surprise this night.

Update from March 6th, 2:16 a.m.: The

Associated Press

is also predicting

a victory for Donald Trump in Tennessee.

CNN,

meanwhile, reports that Trump has – unsurprisingly – a large lead over Nikki Haley in Texas.

First predictions for the US primaries on Super Tuesday: Trump is ahead of Haley in Virginia and Vermont

Update from March 6th, 1:03 a.m.:

The polling stations in Virginia and Vermont are now closed.

According to initial forecasts from the US broadcaster

CNN,

Donald Trump is well ahead of Haley in both states.

However, the numbers will still level off.

US primaries on Super Tuesday: Nikki Haley hardly has a chance

Update from March 6th, 12:32 a.m.:

Nikki Haley is unlikely to have much of a chance against her internal party competitor Donald Trump.

According to your campaign team, no public events are planned for today's Super Tuesday - and therefore apparently no press conference.

It was previously speculated that Haley could withdraw her candidacy if she lost in the primary elections on Wednesday night.

Super Tuesday: The Republicans' first US primary election results probably come from Vermont and Virginia

Update from March 5th, 11:50 p.m.:

While the focus on Super Tuesday is on the Republicans, the Democrats are also holding their primaries on Wednesday night.

President Biden has won the Iowa caucuses, which were conducted entirely by mail this year,

the

Associated Press reports.

The Republicans, on the other hand, asked their voters in Iowa for their votes last January.

Haley attacks former president before Super Tuesday: “Maybe Donald Trump is the problem?”

Update from March 5th, 6:33 p.m.:

In a final election commercial before Super Tuesday, Nikki Haley attacked Donald Trump and blamed him for the Republicans' defeats.

“We lost in 2018, we lost in 2020 and we lost in 2022,” the UN ambassador said in a video she posted on Twitter (X).

Haley was alluding to the Republicans' defeats in the midterm elections in Congress and in the 2020 US elections.

Haley left no doubt who was responsible for this: “How many times do we have to lose before we admit to ourselves: Maybe Donald Trump is the problem?”

That's how many delegates Trump and Haley collected before Super Tuesday

  • Donald Trump: 273

  • Nikki Haley: 43

  • Ron DeSantis (retired): 9

  • Vivek Ramaswamy (eliminated): 3

Super Tuesday in the USA: Trump starts with victory

First reported:

Washington, DC.

– The time has come: In primary elections in a total of 15 states in the USA, voters will vote on the presidential candidates for the 2024 US election for the Democrats and Republicans on Tuesday (March 5th).

In the most populous states of California and Texas, among others, a decision will be made on so-called Super Tuesday.

Among the Republicans, ex-President Donald Trump is heading for the re-nomination for the highest state office.

Trump has clearly won almost all previous primaries.

As expected, the 77-year-old also won the Republican party's internal vote on the presidential candidacy in the state of North Dakota on Monday evening.

The voting marathon is a little less tense this time because the result has been apparent for some time.

Duel with Donald Trump: What will Haley decide after Super Tuesday?

Trump's only remaining intra-party rival, former governor and ambassador Nikki Haley, could drop out of the race if she experiences another serious defeat on Super Tuesday.

Haley won one of the primaries for the first time on Sunday, but only in the capital district of Washington, which is considered a stronghold of Trump opponents and is not very significant in terms of numbers in the race.

Among the Democrats, President Joe Biden is almost certain to run again.

Voting takes place in Alabama, California, Colorado, Maine, Minnesota, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia, among others.

The vote will be taken to decide who should run as a candidate for each party in the presidential election at the beginning of November.

After the national primaries have concluded, the two major US parties will formally select their candidates for the presidential election in November at party conferences in the summer.

Democrats' Super Tuesday: No competition for Biden

For the Democrats, incumbent Joe Biden wants to run for another term.

The 81-year-old US President has no serious competition in his party's internal race.

At the moment everything indicates that Biden and Trump will ultimately compete against each other again.
