What will happen to the area around the old riding stable?

After the end of the equestrian center, the Brucker Land animal lovers are interested in the stable building.

Fürstenfeldbruck – The members of the main and finance committee did not want to give a commitment yet.

Too many questions remain unanswered.

The lease agreement with the equestrian center expires at the end of July.

There are already interested parties for the area near the monastery: a dog school that would like to use the riding hall, a daycare center with horses and the animal lovers Brucker Land.

Since there is always a desire for an animal shelter when citizens participate, the idea arose to give the area to animal lovers who have been looking for a location for a long time, reported Mayor Christian Götz.

The fact that there is a chance to settle in Buck is almost groundbreaking, said Animal Friends Chairwoman Andrea Mittermeir.

Currently, five permanent employees, three who came through a reintegration project, and 25 volunteers look after around 500 cats, rabbits and guinea pigs every year - in mold-filled rooms and cramped conditions at the waterworks in Überacker.

Animal Quarter 2.0

The club would have more space for an “animal quarters 2.0” in the riding stables.

In addition to the reception center and mediation, people want to practice prevention and open themselves up to the outside world.

In a cat garden, visitors of all ages could pet the animals and also do gardening.

School and kindergarten groups, visitors and people with disabilities can be received better.

“Animals are little soul healers,” said Mittermeir.

Dieter Kreis (ÖDP) wanted to know whether the club would like to look after dogs in the future.

He was approved for this, explained Mittermeir.

“But dogs are a completely different matter.” Most conspicuous animals end up in the home.

At most, she could imagine taking in dogs from Fürstenfeldbruck.

“It’s a matter of negotiation.”

Other plans for the area

Some factions rated the establishment of the Brucker Land animal lovers as positive.

“It would enhance the area and the theme of animals fits historically with the monastery area,” said Karin Geiler (BBV).

Andreas Lohde (CSU), however, was skeptical.

“We believe that the location is not the right one.” He was missing a statement from the State Office for Monument Preservation and the event forum.

It was a conversion of an existing building, so no statement from the monument protection department was necessary, replied Mayor Götz.

background

The state district office or the veterinary office located here is exclusively responsible for enforcing the Animal Protection Act, but not for found animals.

Enforcement of the Animal Protection Act means: The office takes away animals from owners if they do not handle them properly.

From 2020 to 2023, the office had to place an average of four dogs, five birds, one cat and one rabbit in foster homes or with private individuals.

This emerges from a paper recently presented by the district administration.

However, the district as a political unit has no responsibility for animal protection.

The previous commitment was voluntary.

Just like running an animal shelter would be.

The accommodation of lost or dangerous animals is the responsibility of cities and municipalities.

The communities have various options: They can operate animal shelters themselves, support associations financially or place the task in private hands.

Found animals often end up in Munich animal shelters.

The municipalities then pay for the accommodation.

Klaus Wollenberg (FDP) recalled a decision made at the time when the city acquired the commercial buildings in Fürstenfeld.

Content: The city will demolish buildings it acquires to improve the view of the monastery and church.

Now the question is whether this also has to happen with the riding stable.

Nevertheless, he could easily imagine temporary use by animal lovers.

“And interim uses take a very long time in Fürstenfeldbruck.”

Markus Droth (FW), Christian Stangl (Greens) and Philipp Heimerl (SPD) had too many questions unanswered because there was a lack of information.

The request to welcome the settlement of animal lovers was rejected by a vote of 7:8.

OB as mediator

Another aspect: the Fürstenfeldbruck animal protection association has its “oasis for critters” around 300 meters as the crow flies from the riding stable.

The committee expressed the desire to accommodate both clubs there.

According to Mittermeir, the chairwoman is not interested in cooperating with animal lovers.

The committee commissioned the mayor to explore possibilities for cooperation.

The town hall boss will also speak to the district.

At the same time, the administration should calculate the costs for repairing the abandoned riding stable and compile information about monument protection, the old resolutions and other interested parties.

The committee then wants to discuss the issue again.

This doesn't mean that the animal lovers have finally been dismissed.

But they continue to hang in the air.

Riding hall as a construction depot

A new use for the riding arena has already been found.

As mayor Christian Götz reported to the main committee, the building yard needs the hall as a depot for the historic carriages and chest carriages, ballot boxes and other things.

Andreas Lohde (CSU) criticized the fact that this was mentioned in passing.

The district would make every effort to ensure a secure depot at the Jexhof, and the city would store its historic cars in a riding arena.

Karin Geißler (BBV) demanded that the building yard only be allowed to use the hall and not store anything outside.
