Can't wait to see the first spring flowers?

Five hikes offer great views of the first buds of the year.

According to the German Weather Service, the south of Germany still has to prepare for the onset of winter and low temperatures.

Many are therefore hoping for spring-like weather by the Easter holidays at the latest - and then the opportunity to watch nature awaken.

In anticipation of this, you can already take a look at the most beautiful hiking routes full of flowers and blossoms in Germany for March and April.

A beautiful sea of flowers awaits hiking fans every spring near Zavelstein in the Black Forest.

Around the beginning of March, the wild crocus begins to bloom blue-violet and white here.

It is not known exactly where it comes from: actually native to the Mediterranean region, it is believed that the wild crocus was introduced from a trip abroad and planted in the castle garden.

Since then it has spread in the Zavelstein farm gardens.

According to the Teichnachtal tourism website, the crocus blossoms in the “Zavelsteiner Krokuswiesen” nature reserve can be viewed all year round.

Tourists can discover them on the Daffodil Route, which begins on the main road at the Höfen National Park Gate.

The route is almost 15 kilometers long and only includes easy and moderately difficult ascents and descents - making it perfect for a hike with the whole family.

If you want to see the masses of dandelions up close, take the spring hike from Kurhaus Fiskina via the Achweg and the Imbergweg back to the starting point.

At the highest point of the hike, outdoor fans have a wonderful view of the Allgäu main ridge and the dandelion meadows.

The Obstweg is located in Leichlingen - located between Cologne, Düsseldorf and Leverkusen - on the edge of the Bergisches Land.

Along the route, walkers will discover numerous fruit trees that begin to bloom in spring.

The 5.9 kilometer long circular hiking trail mainly deals with the history of the apple, which can be followed on information boards.

Visitors should plan around two hours for the route - unfortunately it is not suitable for strollers.
