Yedioth Ahronoth: The negotiations between the workers and the management exploded

Crisis in the negotiations between the employees and the management of Yediot Aharonot regarding the layoff procedure: Yesterday (Monday) another negotiation meeting was held at the newspaper on the process of system consolidation in the Yediot Group, which includes an extensive layoff process in which 30 more Yediot and Ynet employees are expected to terminate their employment - in addition to Those who were already dismissed from the newspaper during the war or signed the voluntary retirement agreement offered by the management.

At the beginning, Yedioth Ahronoth's management presented a plan to lay off 67 employees, but the number referred only to the consolidation of the systems and not to other divisions in the group such as Radio Ynet, which was closed, and "Menta" magazine - which recently parted ways with 11 employees.

In addition to them, as of now, 20 employees voluntarily resigned from the group, 9 were fired, 6 went on sick leave in November and 3 resigned.

According to the workers' committee, the management rejected their minimum basic demands for the working conditions and the remaining employees in the unified system. Among other things, the organization claims that the management did not Agree to guarantee remuneration to the employees for additional tasks following the consolidation of the systems, and do not agree to fully apply the terms of the

Yediot

agreement to ynet employees .

At the beginning of next week, there will be a short update meeting in the Brashal system, where we will consider together the next steps in the fight for the rights of the male and female workers in the group," the committee said.

The assessment now among the employees is that there will be no escape from sanctions marches in the newspaper, and later also an appeal to the labor court - if the management starts firing the employees unilaterally.

According to committee officials, a full shutdown of the newspaper is also on the agenda.

Against the background of the cuts, Yedioth Ahronoth's editor-in-chief Avi Meshulam also recently completed a recruitment program for the newspaper, with the appointment of his former deputy from Tel Aviv Radio, Roi Katz, to the position of editor of the group's unified economy division.

As part of the unification of the systems, ynet editor Guido Ran recently became the news editor of the Yedioth Group and Jordan Bitran was appointed to the position of head of the news department under him.

At the same time, the editor of the "7 Nights" supplement Daphne Lisbona was appointed to the position of head of the group's culture and entertainment division.

In the shadow of the recruitment, the picture of cuts in the other departments of the Yedioth Ahronoth group is also becoming clearer: about two months ago it was announced that the old health magazine "Menta" was going to close, and follow the path of the other magazines of the group.

Let's recall:

in recent years, close to ten magazines that were owned by the group have been closed one after the other, including the men's magazine "Blazer", the youth weekly "Rosh Ehad" which operated for about 30 years, and the entertainment weekly "Panai Plus".

Also the group's radio venture "Radio Ynet", whose intention to close was previously reported extensively in Vala!

Barangay, officially closes its doors as part of the cut.

Later it will be revealed in Vala!

Branch that the management of Yediot Ahronoth also wants to fire about a third of the personnel in the local network "Yediot Communication".

A labor dispute has since been announced on the network.

This means that even today the employees can take organizational measures, if the negotiations that are expected to take place with the company's management do not succeed.
