The Gaißach fire department was deployed to 18 missions last year: accidents, fires and other damage.

There were words of thanks for the commitment at the general meeting.

Gaißach

- Six years ago, the Gaißach fire department exceeded the 100 mark in terms of the number of its active members, and four years ago there was a woman in its ranks for the first time.

This is now normal.

The organization has reached a level of over 100 active members, more women have joined, and there is also something to be happy about when it comes to the young talent: there are currently six new people under 18 in training.

And there is also personnel stability in the leadership: Commander Michael Schmid and his deputy have been in office for nine years.

Even in the new elections that took place at the Gasthof Mühl, there was only one change: Martin Oswald, who was on the board for three years and had previously served as secretary for just as long, decided not to run again and was bid farewell with flowers.

Michael Eimannsberger, who had previously been secretary, was elected as his successor and for whom Simon Leichmann joined the board.

Josef Gaisreiter continues as second board member, as does Franz Brandhofer as treasurer.

Commander Schmid reported on 18 missions in the past year: These included some traffic accidents and small fires as well as weather-related missions following snow breakage, storm and hail damage.

There were also other voluntary operations such as traffic control measures and security services.

What Schmid complained about: It happens again and again that volunteers are unnecessarily alerted and have to move out because of trivial reasons.

This was also reported by district fire chief Anton Melf, who also questioned an increase in delicate tree securing measures.

Johann Jaud (40 years) as well as Jakob Gilgenreiner and Nikolaus Simon Jr. were honored for their long-standing membership in the Gaißach fire department.

The fire department is a very important and highly valued factor within the village community.

Board member Martin Oswald and secretary Michael Einmannsberger had already emphasized this at the beginning, and mayor Stefan Fadinger also emphasized this in his welcoming speech.

The high standards and technical progress at the fire departments are a guarantee that there are far fewer large fires today than in the past, he emphasized and thanked those active for their great use of free time and their great willingness to help.

“Thank you very much for that, it wouldn’t work without you.”

Secretary Eimansberger recalled social and other events held by the military, for example the excursion and the “Daxn against donations” campaign.

He also discussed the fire brigade chronicle from 1923.

Treasurer Franz Brandhofer highlighted the financial year 2023 with a loss of 11,800 euros and a cash balance of 45,000 euros.

There have already been a few dates to note: This year, the armed forces are inviting people to an open day on May 19th.

The trip together is scheduled for October 13th.

The meeting also provided the right setting for honors: Johann Jaud was awarded the “Golden Medal of Honor on Ribbon” by district fire chief Melf for his 40 years of service to the Gaißach fire department.

In addition, as a special recognition, he and his wife receive a one-week stay in the St. Florian guesthouse in Bayerisch Gmain near Reichenhall.
