He would have celebrated his 19th birthday on March 6.
Wednesday evening, the family of Adam Chaponic, fatally run over by a cleaning truck on September 27, 2021, gathered on the Grand-Place in Boulogne-Billancourt, near the scene of the tragedy.
The opportunity to pay tribute to him on his birthday, the third that his loved ones have experienced in the pain of his absence.
Adam was 16 years old when he was fatally struck by a cleaning vehicle from the Sepur company, a city service provider.
He had just removed one of the many Vélib' parked on rue Le Corbusier.
Considering that no fault of recklessness or negligence could be blamed on the driver, the Nanterre public prosecutor's office closed the case without further action following the preliminary investigation.
An investigating judge has since been contacted and will have to determine whether or not the driver should be sent to court for manslaughter, as requested by the parents' lawyer.
