The end of winter is approaching and the Bordeaux opposition representatives seem to be waking up.
In Bordeaux, the Allées de Tourny are a central axis of the city center, forming one of the three sides of the Bordeaux
“
golden triangle
”
.
In the middle of the rows of lime trees, however, walkers remain rare.
A phenomenon which the environmentalist mayor of Bordeaux, Pierre Hurmic, wants to remedy, by launching a consultation to completely redevelop the alleys of Tourny, an operation worth several million euros which has already been contested.
“
Last January, the municipal council voted for an initial envelope of nine
million euros for this project, the consultation system of which, the single project management and the financing will be carried out by Bordeaux Métropole
”
, recalls the opposition group Bordeaux Renewal, chaired by the Macronist Thomas Cazenave, Minister of Public Accounts.
Nine million euros which lead these elected officials to question
“
the priority, the scale and the cost of such a project
”
and the very usefulness of the consultation launched this Wednesday, while the municipality has already decided to redo these paths.

An online survey and counter-consultation
The elected officials and activists of Renouveau Bordeaux therefore decided to appear in front of the town hall at the time of the launch of the consultation by the town hall, in order to invite the people of Bordeaux to participate in an online survey, to question them
"
on the investments that they consider to be priorities for their neighborhood
”
and what they would prefer to see as development projects carried out in Bordeaux for nine million euros.
Opponents compare, for example, this development project with the price of a nursery (4.5 million euros), a gymnasium (3.5 million euros), or even with the creation of ten kilometers of secure cycle paths (5.9 million euros).
However, Thomas Cazenave's group is not the first to try to steal the spotlight from environmentalists.
On February 15, Nicolas Florian, president of the right-wing and center opposition group Bordeaux Ensemble, launched a
“
major consultation for the future of the Allées de Tourny
”
, regretting that
“
the mayor of Bordeaux is shifting his focus to the metropolis
”
, by deciding to take charge of questioning local residents and traders himself.
When announcing the launch of the consultation, Pierre Hurmic, however, recalled that recourse to the metropolis was necessary because if the median is municipal property, the shoulder is part of the metropolitan domain.
“
Opposition elected officials are of course welcome to participate in this consultation ,
”
added the councilor, who seems to have been heard, but not as he would have hoped.
