The Planetary Science Caucus, which was initially formed in 2018 but was later abandoned in 2021, listed several key objectives:

  • Support government agencies, commercial partners, academic institutions, and nonprofit organizations in space research and exploration.

  • Strengthen the efforts of space organizations to find, track, characterize and mitigate the threat of potentially hazardous near-Earth objects.

  • Facilitate the search for life in our solar system and beyond, answering the fundamental question: Are we alone in the universe?

  • Increase awareness of the economic benefits of federal investments in space science, technological development, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education.

“For millennia, humans have observed the cosmos and incorporated its rich lessons here on Earth, and I am delighted to continue this proud tradition in the halls of Congress by working with Congressman Bacon to launch the Planetary Science Group,” Chu said. it's a statement.
