A man tried to end his life this Wednesday in front of the Suresnes police station.
This 39-year-old tried to set himself on fire while leaving the police station.
The events took place around 5 p.m.
The man initially went to the police station, apparently to file a complaint, the content of which is unknown.
Faced with his agitated behavior and his vociferations, the reception officials asked him to calm down on site before recording his request.
The man preferred to leave the scene but eventually returned towards the police station.
There, on the Place du Moutier, he doused himself with flammable liquid and brandished his lighter in front of the police officers.
“The officials went directly towards him with a fire extinguisher, they tried to talk with him to calm him down,” says a police source.
During this time, members of the anti-crime squad approached him from behind to surround him.
He was quickly handcuffed and his lighter disabled.
“They managed to control him before the tragedy occurred,” specifies the same source.
The firefighters then took charge of the desperate man and took him to the Max-Fourestier hospital in Nanterre.
