The 7th Hallertau Beer Festival takes place in June.
Planning for Attenkirchen's major event is already underway.
There are new features this year that regular guests should know.
Attenkirchen
- A detail of the 7th Hallertau Beer Festival, which is supposed to attract 15,000 visitors to Attenkirchen on a weekend in mid-June, was so important to the organizers that they mentioned it five times at the opening press conference on Thursday: “Everyone has to be there this year Buy a new glass,” explained chief planner Andra Nieder.
The background is that the 0.25 liter glass used in previous years, with which visitors tried out the beer selection and which many saved especially for the next festival, is no longer available.
“We therefore unintentionally have to switch to a 0.3 glass this year,” says Nieder.
Using two different sizes would be too complex for festival logistics.
A festival for the whole family - free of charge
Of course, there were a lot of other things to tell about the three-day spectacle, which, according to Mayor Mathias Kern, should once again be “a festival from the village for the entire region and radiate across the entire Hallertau”.
This year too, the community, which acts more in the background as an organizer and leaves the practical implementation to a ten-strong, rejuvenated steering team as well as a group of volunteers, clubs and sponsors, wants to “offer a festival for the whole family”.
As usual, there are no entry fees, but there are still three cultural and concert stages with a colorful supporting program including children's fun.
Sales stands should also invite people to stroll through the town again.
Huge crowd: Thousands of visitors crowded onto the festival grounds in Attenkirchen at the beer festival in 2022 and enjoyed the happy atmosphere and the good weather.

This time there are more non-alcoholic options
Of course, the focus of the event remains on the enjoyment of barley juice.
Once you have bought your glass and the necessary beer thalers, you can try around 50 different beers at numerous taverns.
Another 100 types of beer will be waiting in the brewery market.
Because the stocks of non-alcoholic beer were drunk too quickly last time, the offer is to be expanded here.
The price for a beer thaler will probably rise to 3.80 to 4 euros, explained Andrea Nieder, “that’s not entirely certain yet”.
In general, the costs for the organizers have increased, but in return they have also been able to attract additional sponsors.
“The festival is calculated so that we go out with plus-minus-zero,” emphasized local boss Kern.
The required full closure for the B301 was wobbling in the meantime
The road closure of the B301 leading through the middle of Attenkirchen, which in previous years had enabled the central location of the beer festival and the merging of the two halves of the town for a weekend, was briefly canceled this time due to stricter requirements, as the organizers reported.
But ultimately, at a round table with the authorities and thanks to the district administrator as an advocate, a compromise solution was found in which a bar would be moved, but the buses would be rerouted.
Kern: “With this solution we can work in the long term.”
